Today was some laundry, Freshfiled Farms for some produce, Publix to get the odds and ends I can’t get at Freshfield, write an article about it, do some church work, play with kid… I’m just about wiped out.

But I have the organic produce coming Thursday so I had to clean the fridge so tomorrow I can start cooking up what I got today to make space for the incoming.

Before it wasn’t too bad, but it needed some straightening.

After is neater and I have empty drawers for incoming.

Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Recipe

I got caught with a mess of dishes and no Ecover tablets. So I decided to give two homemade recipes a whirl with stuff I had on hand.

The first is the easiest.

1 tbs of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda
1 tbs or Mule Team Borax

Jsut plop it in the little cup in the dishwasher and go.

You can add 1/4 cup vinegar for the rinse in the rinse area. I think I still had rinse in there so I didn’t bother with that part. Dishes came out ok in my type of water.

The second round was the smellier dishes, so they got this recipe:

1/2 cup Dr Bronner’s castille soap (I had peppermint)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup white vinegar
3 drop tea tree oil
1 tsp lemon juice

Shake well in bottle and use 2 tbs per load.

This left a film in my type of water. So I wouldn’t do this one again… I prefer the other one.

But the two recipes are certainly is handy if you are stuck with no tablets!
